Molly P. Horan

Molly Patricia Horan (Calomino), 92 of Palos Heights, formerly Evergreen Park, Roseland and Burnside passed away on 8/22/2025. .

Molly was born 12/23/32 in Chicago, IL to Anthony and Esther Calomino (Giglio). She was the baby in a family of 2 brothers (Dominick, Jimmy) and 3 sisters (Phyllis (Cassano), Lena (Pascente), Nellie (Mori). Molly attended CVS H.S. in Chicago. She married John (Jack) Horan on June 19, 1954. Together they raised 5 children: John (Mary) Horan, Laura Horan, Marilyn (Ken) Schroeder, Diane (Doug) Bennett, and Danny (Deidre) Horan.

Family was Molly’s love language. She cherished her children, their spouses, her 14 grandchildren; Ken (Megan) Schroeder, Meghan (Pat Kelly), Matt (Katie) Schroeder, Marc (Claire) Horan-Spatz, Caleigh Horan-Spatz (Cayman Larry), Bryce (Macy) Bennett, Colin (Morgan) Bennett, Jackson (Megan) Bennett, Emily (Clay) Baker, Sean Bennett (Lauren Smith), Evan Horan (Sarai Soto), Gael Horan, Abbey Horan and our Angel Aiden and 12 great-grandchildren; Evelyn, Quinn, Jack, Charlie, Conor, Benjamin, Naomi, Elizabeth, Caden, Claire, Cooper and Henry. Her gift was finding a connection to each family member, making them feel extra special and loved. A special kiss, a container filled with jelly beans, coffee cake for the morning or a special batch of garlic dip were all love in disguise.

Molly was dedicated to her husband Jack for nearly 50 years. Together, they loved to travel and watch their family shine. She stood beside him and cared for him as he later grappled with health issues. Following that example, her children promised their father that they would take care of Mom. Now it is time for them to let her go.

Molly was first-generation Italian. Her Calomino family, including many nieces and nephews, was very near and dear to her. She looked forward to Estherfest every year to reconnect with family and celebrate her Italian heritage.

Molly’s home was always warm, welcoming, and filled with love. There was always room at her dining room table for one more. She loved when her table was bustling with conversation, engaged in a game of dominoes, or filled with a Christmas feast of homemade ravioli and meatballs. She taught her family traditions that they will always cherish and carry on in her memory. Singing Silent Night before opening Christmas gifts, finding the one $5 bill in your Easter basket, and signing cards with “love and prayers”.

Molly was young at heart. She was a fun, practical joker. Her grandkids always knew that their last bite of food was in jeopardy of being stolen from Grandma when they weren’t looking. Molly’s love of life taught us that weddings are for dancing, dining room tables are for family time, and the purpose of a fireplace mantle is to showcase grandkids’ accomplishments and welcome more and more great-grandchildren.

Molly quietly nurtured her faith throughout the years. Her life spanned 9 decades. Through it all, she stayed grounded in her faith. She taught her family that God is Love and that tolerance and compassion for others are timeless essentials. That lesson lives on in her family.

Join us for her public viewing on August 25 at Kerry Funeral Home, 7020 W. 127th St., Palos Heights, IL from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 26th at 10 am at St. Alexander Catholic Church, 7025 W. 126th St. in Palos Heights.
