Molly Jakubec Obituary

Molly Ann Jakubec

Molly Ann Jakubec, age 91, of Rossford, Ohio, passed away on March 31, 2025, following a sudden illness while visiting her daughter in Florida. She was born on October 11, 1933, in Rossford, Ohio, to Frank J. and Amelia (Hutchek) Vavrik.

On Easter Monday, April 14, 1952, Molly married the love of her life, Eugene S. Jakubec, and together they shared 70 wonderful years of marriage. A dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she leaves behind a legacy of hard work, generosity, and kindness.

Molly was a proud graduate of Owens Technical College, where she earned her Associate's Degree in Marketing Management. She spent 35 years at the Lion Store in various roles, including HR Director and Credit Manager from the years 1956-1991.

Molly's commitment to her community was equally admirable. She was a long-time member of many organizations, including the Owens Marketing Association, Toledo Museum of Art, Rossford Community Service League, Credit Women International, and Quota International. Molly was also a passionate advocate for Rossford, serving as the first elected female member of the Rossford City Council. Her leadership and commitment to her community were further demonstrated during her two terms as council president from 1989-1991 and again from 1993-1997.

A devout member of All Saints Catholic Church, Molly was deeply involved in the community, and her cheerful presence and generosity were felt by all who knew her. Many in the Rossford area fondly remember her visits, often accompanied by "allowances" of $2 bills that she eagerly shared with friends and neighbors.

Molly is survived by her children, Mark (Sandra) Jakubec, Martin (Kimberly), Jane (David) Jump, Matthew, and Joseph (Wendy); her grandchildren, Christina (Todd) Griffith, Ann Marie Stec, Molly (Alan) Joseph, Mark (Todd Williams) Jakubec, James Jakubec, Jonathan (Hannah) Jakubec, Samantha (Rich) Linak, Jason Metzger, Kelly Metzger, Andrew (Allison) Jakubec, Daniel (Rachel) Jakubec USN, Korie (Ryan) Anthony, Amanda Jakubec, Amelia Jakubec, Adam Jakubec, and David Jump; as well as great-grandchildren, Evan, Allison, Lauren, Dylan, Jocelyn, Jacob, Leah, Jordan, Andi, Ryli, Kole, Reid, Will, Emma, Averie, and Micah. She is also survived by two nieces, Kristine Goldsmith and Karen Bodeker; and her special cousin, Joanne Bucklew. Molly was preceded in death by her loving husband, Eugene; parents; her beloved sons, Eugene "Sam" and Michael Jakubec; and her grandson, Nicholas Welborne.

Friends and family are invited to gather on Thursday, April 10, 2025, from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Sujkowski-Walker Funeral Home, 830 Lime City Road, Rossford, Ohio 43460. A rosary prayer will take place at 7:30 p.m. during visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church, 628 Lime City Road, Rossford, Ohio 43460. Memorial donations in Molly's honor may be made to All Saints Catholic Church.

My dear cousin Molly Ann, you are greatly missed. Molly Ann was a truly kind loving person, and an inspiration, a wonderful role model, someone to emulate. I send my deepest sympathy to her family.

Molly was a great special person. I remember as a child going over to her house for special occasions. She was the best, a great family person with her children and husband Gene. I remember the best pies, especially the fresh baked strawberry pie. I remember meeting Molly and Gene in Reno with my parents in the 90´s, it was so much fun. I truly was to thank her and her husband Gene for taking care of my parents, Clare and Charlie Bertok Sr. They truly loved going to dinner with both of them to Eddy Lee´s in their later years. A great wife, family person, and just a really great person. THANK YOU. WE WILL MISS YOU.

Sending prayers of comfort and peace to the family and friends of Molly.
She was a lovely woman and had such a beautiful soul. I had the pleasure of working with for 7 years at Southwyck Shopping Center. Great memories were made, and many friends and associates I met there.
We loved doing our People Magazine crosswords puzzles and drinking Swiss Miss coffee. She was very thoughtful and would always make me a copy. Sometimes even paper clipped it to my time card had she not seen me that day.
I enjoyed our chats, laughs and time spent together while working. I will keep our memories dear to my heart.

What a wonderful lady Molly was! She hired me at the Lion Store Southwyck in the fall of 1972. My sincere sympathy to her family during this difficult time. We are all much better people from her touching our lives the way she did.
