Molly Ann Smith-Thompson, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on August 3, 2025, in Orient, Ohio. Born on September 15, 1957, in Columbus, Ohio, Molly led a life filled with love, service, and cherished memories.
Molly proudly dedicated 22 years of her life as a police officer for the Columbus Ohio Police Department. Known for her exemplary work on the Hilltop, she was respected by many who knew and loved her for excelling in her job.
A proud graduate of West High School in Columbus, Molly was an active cheerleader and swimmer. She enjoyed staying connected with her classmates through reunions that showcased her fondness for her high school memories.
Family was at the heart of Molly's life. She loved her husband of 20 years, George Thompson, stepchildren Tammi (Steve) Thompson and Dustin (Ashley) Thompson, grandchildren Jimi (Mackenzie) Kefauver, Jake Kefauver, Dylan (Alyssa) Thompson, Gracie Justus, and Macyn Thompson, as well as her great-grandchildren Grayson Thompson and Matthew Kefauver. Her sister, Susan Smith, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family, will cherish her memory.
Molly had various hobbies and interests that brought her joy. She had a passion for gambling and enjoyed spending time at casinos. A race car fan, she loved to keep stats of drivers and their speeds, particularly at the Columbus Motor Speedway. An avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan, she found delight in dining out at Texas Roadhouse and taking vacations in Myrtle Beach with special friends. Molly also had a flair for style and enjoyed getting her nails done in bright red.
In addition to her family, Molly's home was shared with beloved pets including dogs Willis and Benson, a cat named Colby, and birds Sydney and Gabby.
Molly is preceded in death by her parents, Frances and Rose Marie Smith and special friend, Sheila Manasco.
Visitation will be held on August 10, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home in Grove City, Ohio. A graveside service will follow on August 11, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Sunset Cemetery in Galloway, Ohio.
Molly Ann Smith-Thompson will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure to know her, and her legacy of love and dedication will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
