It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mollye Lacretelle Alford Robinson, a cherished member of the Camden, SC community, who departed this life on Thursday, January 9th, 2025. Born on Friday, April 8th, 1938, in Conway, South Carolina, Mollye lived a life dedicated to love, education, community, and faith.

Mollye's academic journey began at Whittemore High School in her hometown of Conway. Her passion for knowledge led her to South Carolina State College, where she earned a degree in Library Science. She furthered her education by completing a master's degree at the University of South Carolina. With a commitment to empowering young minds, Mollye dedicated her career to the field of education, serving as a librarian at the historic Jackson High School in Camden, SC, and later at the Kershaw County Vocational Center, currently known as the Woolard Technology Center.

A woman of unwavering faith, Mollye was a devoted member of Camden First United Methodist Church. She sang in the church choir and was active in the United Women of Faith, among other groups. Her service extended beyond her church as she contributed to the community through her roles on the boards of the Kershaw County Fine Arts Center, now the Arts Center of Kershaw County, and the Multicultural Committee of The Arts Center. Mollye also served as the past treasurer of the SCEA-Retired Teachers Association of Kershaw County and a member of the Concerned Citizens of Kershaw County.

Mollye's love for music, especially hymns, was evident throughout her life, and she shared this love with those around her. Celebrated for her warm spirit and generosity, she held a lifelong membership with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., where she embodied the principles of sisterhood and service.

Mollye's legacy continues through her loving children, Carl N. Robinson, Jr. and wife Valerie, Anthony M. Robinson and wife Latoya, and Melanie E. Robinson; her brother, Emerson L. Alford; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl Nathan Robinson, Sr., parents William Howard Taft Alford Sr., and Thillian Beatrice Jones Alford, along with siblings Chester Alford, William Alford, Jr., Sylvia Conwell, and Joyce Jones.

Family, friends, and community members are invited to celebrate Mollye's life. A visitation will take place at the Arts Center of Kershaw County in Camden, SC, on Thursday, January 16th, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at Camden First United Methodist Church on Friday, January 17th, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm, followed by interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A repast will be held at the church from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm.

In remembrance of Mollye, the family requests that memorials be made in her honor to Camden First United Methodist Church, South Carolina State University, and the Arts Center of Kershaw County.
