Mona Conner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Raymond Funeral Service PA - La Plata on Feb. 7, 2026.
Mona Lavon Conner, the beloved Matriarch of her family, passed away peacefully on February

5, 2026, at the age of 83. She was the heart and anchor of her family, whose love, strength,

and guidance shaped generations.

Mona was born in Lexington, VA, and attended Rockbridge High school in Fairfield, VA.

She moved to Charles County, MD, in 1963 where she resided until her death. Mona earned

her Associate's Degree from Charles County Community College and retired as Postmaster

from the United States Postal Service in 1999, where she worked for 18 years.

Mona's love for travel took her around the world, and her love for gambling made sure she

never missed a casino along the way. Mona's door - and her kitchen - were always open for

friends, family or anyone in need. She will be remembered for her generosity, resilience, and

the joy she found in both life's simple pleasures and its grand adventures.

Mona is the daughter of the late Sherman Claytor and the late Bonnie Wolfe. She is preceded

in death by her husband of 53 years, Marion (Jake) Conner; brother, Thomas Claytor; and

grandson, Jacob West.

She is survived by her four children, Katheryne West (Wayne Bowling), Sherman Conner (Sandy

Meyer), Michael (Susan) Conner, and Marion David Conner; six grand children; six great grand

children; and one great great grandchild along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Mona leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever remain in the hearts of her family and

friends. Though her travels have come to an end, her spirit lives on in the lives she touched, and

through the friends and family who will carry her memory forward.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or the

National Kidney Foundation.
