Mona Ruth Cox, age 84, passed away on December 2, 2025, following a brief illness.
Born to the late Claude V. Cox and Hazel O. Cox.
She is survived by her brother Claude C. Cox and sister-in-law, Nancy S. Cox, both of Decatur, Georgia; sister-in-law Rhys Cox of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and her niece Deborah C. Garner of Monroe, Georgia.
For the past nine years, Mona made her home with devoted caregivers Vernon and Olivia Buckmon of Stone Mountain, Georgia, whose care and companionship enriched her later years.
Despite the physical and cognitive challenges, she faced, Ms. Mona lived with an unmistakable joie de vivre. She was friendly, loving, charming, and wonderfully funny. As she loved all, all loved her. Her warmth and spirit will be deeply missed by those who had the joy of knowing her.
Memorial services will be held later at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, Georgia.
