Lyle Cox Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Threadgill's Memorial Services, LLC on Dec. 5, 2025.
Lyle K Cox went to be with his savior on November 28, 2025. Lyle was born on June 17, 1943, in Idaho Falls, ID, son of Mayhew and Alvera (Johnson) Cox. When Lyle was five years old the family moved to Butte, MT. In the great outdoors of Montana, Lyle found his love for hunting and fishing. Lyle joined the US Navy in July of 1961 thru July of 1966. After serving with the Navy, Lyle worked for the Anaconda Copper Mining company in Butte, MT as a Contract Miner.
In 1960 Lyle married his first wife Rose Young and they had six children together. They moved to Portland, OR in the early 1970's. Lyle ran his own contractor business, specializing in dry wall. Many of his clients would comment that he was an artist in dry wall finishing. After arriving in Portland, Lyle also found his love of the arts: ballet, theater, music, etc.
In 1994, Lyle married his eternal companion, Karen (Kent) Ham. They were married for 30 years. Together they loved to travel and explore new places.
He is survived by his wife Karen of Tigard, OR; sons Lyle (Telma) of Riverton, UT, Stan (Lori) of Union, OR, Bill (Josh) of Beaverton, OR; daughters Kathy Parsons of Murray, UT, Nancy Hathaway of Beaverton, OR; stepdaughter Keli Marsden of Portland, OR and stepson John Ham of Portland, OR; sister Diane Fenton of Green River, WY and Ruth (Dan) Hutchinson of Butte, MT; 24 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Tammy, twin brother Lynn, brother Merle and sisters Ellen Krause and Florence Ryan.
We will miss his quiet strength, wonderful humor and compassion for others.
The funeral will be held on December 11, 2025 at 10am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints: 11065 SW North Dakota St, Tigard OR. Burial will be later that day at 2:00 pm at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland Oregon.
