On November 2, 2025, Our Loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Jan Sheron Walker Bruce, slipped from this life to her heavenly home – into the loving arms of her beloved Savior, Jesus Christ – and joyfully reunited with her son, Thomas Wesley Bruce, and many other family members.
Jan was born on September 1, 1949, in Provo, Utah, the oldest daughter of James Wesley Walker and Vila Dean Harward. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her son Thomas Wesley Bruce.
Jan met the love of her life Richard James Bruce Jr at church and found out that they both worked at Tektronix when she needed a ride to work he provided those rides. They got to know each other better, then they dated. They were married on December 19, 1970 at the Stake Center for, at the time the Portland West Stake. They were later Sealed on July 11, 1972 in the Oakland, California Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Married for nearly 55 years, they built an eternal family together and were blessed with eight children.
She is survived by her husband Richard James Bruce Jr. and seven of her children: Sheron Willms, Richard James Bruce III (Angie), Deborah Kilgore (Michael), Charlene Bruce, Marsha Krause (Jeremy), Robert Bruce (Emma), Sarah Bruce, and step-daughter Patricia Evers. She was preceded in death by her son Thomas Wesley Bruce. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jan loved doing family history work. She diligently submitted numerous of her ancestors' names the to the temple so they could receive sacred ordinances and covenants. She also served many years with her husband Richard at The Family History Center in the Hillsboro Stake Building.
Jan enjoyed many activities with her family including: camping, hiking, fishing and gardening. She enjoyed many talents Including: paint by number kits, calligraphy, cross-stitch, crocheting, knitting and making her own homemade greeting cards.
Above all, Jan loved her family. She will be remembered for her Christ-like love she showed to everyone that she met. She always remembered family and friends birthdays and holidays by sending her hand-made greeting cards with personal messages and scripture passages.
