Mona Lynn Laxton, age 52 years, of Stearns, Kentucky died Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at the Central Baptist in Lexington, Kentucky.
She was born in Somerset, Kentucky on June 28, 1973 the daughter of Maggie (Hurd) Bryant and the late Artie “Pete” Coleman. Mona had been a cook for the McCreary County School District and a member of the First Otter Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, riding backroads, being with family, but especially her grandchild.
In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ricky "DeeDee" Laxton Dolen; son, Kenny Lee Laxton; daughters, Keisha Laxton and Jolene Laxton; and brother, David Coleman.
She is survived by her son, Justin Artie Laxton of Stearns, Kentucky; mother MAggie Bryant of Stearns, Kentucky; sister, Connie Hardin (Greg) of Fairland, Indiana; grandson, Gus Laxton; Edward Strunk and Jeremy Young who were like her sons; an honorable aunt, Mable Goodin; and honorable friends, Alvin Padgett and Raven Slaven.
Funeral services will be held 2pm Saturday, July 12, 2025 at the McCreary County Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Douglas Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 12pm Saturday at the Funeral Home.
