Mona Jean Sherer

Mona Jean Harper Sherer, lovingly known as "Honey" by her grandchildren, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2025, in Athens, Texas, at the age of 91.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ann Harper; her husband, Glen Sherer; her son, Michael Lewis Sherer; and her sisters, Dorothy Harper Powers and Joan Harper Hall.

Mona is survived by her devoted daughter, Melody Morris; her grandson, Michael Sherer, and his daughter Makenzie, along with Makenzie's children, Landyn, Lyilah, and Soul; granddaughter, Destini Knotts and husband Tim, and their children, Thomas, Mackenzie, Avery, and Christian; grandsons Andrew Morris and his children, Christian, Carsen, and Triton; and Matthew Morris and his children, Emilie, Allie, and Olivia. Mona's legacy continues through her great-great-grandchildren Evalynn, Isabella, Randi, Ember, Aeson, and Saige, as well as her niece Deborah Powers and nephew Allen Powers.

Mona will be remembered for her radiant smile, infectious laugh, and the joy she brought to everyone around her. She loved her long career at Curtis Mathis, where her presence was so cherished they let her take her favorite chair with her when she retired. Mona shared a special bond with her daughter Melody. Mona's mother Ann Harper, helped raise Melody and their shared love of showing dogs, especially Belgian Sheepdogs, began a long line of stern, strong women. She also never missed an opportunity to spend time at the track supporting her grandson Michael throughout his BMX racing career.

To know Mona was to love her. She had a way of making everyone feel special and never missed a chance to say, "I love you to pieces!"

Her family and friends will forever hold her memory close and find comfort in the laughter, love, and warmth she brought to their lives.
