Mona Lee (Buchanan) Williams, 74, of Rushville, Indiana, passed away peacefully in her home on December 12, 2025. Born on October 30, 1951, in Rushville, she was the daughter of Robert and Lois Buchanan. Mona was a devoted caregiver and family matriarch who selflessly dedicated her life to the care and well-being of those she loved.
Her parents and her sisters, Mary (Sis) Newman and Shirley Hampton, preceded Mona in death.
She is lovingly survived by her husband of 56 years, Jeffrey Williams; her children, Brian (Erin) Williams and Eric (Susan) Williams. Along with her grandchildren Erica (Williams) Tyler, her beloved granddaughter, best friend, and devoted caregiver; Briley, Trista, Brock, Emma, Harley, Zachary, and Rebecca. She also leaves behind her step-grandchildren, Dinah, George, and John, one great-grandson, Bennett, her sister, Sharon Dice, and her brother, Robert Buchanan, Jr.
Mona was known for her vibrant personality-funny, caring, and thoughtful, with a firecracker spirit and a wonderfully stubborn streak that those who loved her came to admire. She had a zest for life and a passion for the simple joys, whether it was making homemade wine, tackling a challenging puzzle, tending to her flower garden, or spending cherished time with her grandchildren. Her love of animals was boundless, from hummingbirds flitting in her garden to all the family pets, including her beloved great-grand fur baby, Garrett. Mona had a way of making everyone feel special, and her thoughtfulness and sense of humor left an unforgettable mark on all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life Ceremony will take place at the First Southern Baptist Church, Airport Rd, Rushville, IN, on January 17th, 2026. Further announcements are to come.
Mona will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her love, humor, and the joy she brought to her family and friends.
