Monika J. (Urdzik) Brezinski, 65 of Blairsville, PA, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA, after bravely battling many years of serious health issues. She was born November 3, 1959 in Latrobe, PA, the daughter of the late Katharina (Schreck) Urdzik and the late Daniel J. Urdzik.
Monika was a 1977 graduate of Derry Area Senior High School. She attended business school at BCI in Greensburg, after which she immediately started her career at St. Vincent College, where she worked as a secretary for 40+ years. It was here that she developed lifelong friendships that were like a second family to her. Monika was known for her smiling and kind nature. She showed strength and resilience through many difficult years of serious health issues. She received the generous lifesaving gift of a liver transplant in 2021 that gave her several more precious years to spend with her family. She dearly loved her three dogs, Gunner, Bailey & Sundae.
Monika was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Mark Brezinski, Blairsville, her sons, Justin & Derek Brezinski, Blairsville, her sister, Daniela Kromel, Latrobe, PA and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends at the Ferguson Funeral Home & Monument Company, 25 W. Market St. Blairsville, PA 15717 on Saturday, January 4, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home at 8 PM with Fr. Segundino Laude officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ferguson Funeral Home to help with the funeral costs. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of Allegheny General and Latrobe Hospitals. Their care and dedication to saving lives is very much appreciated and commended.
