Monroe Ledford, age 75, of Hiawassee, Georgia passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at Chatuge Regional Hospital after a brief illness. Monroe was born in Murphy, North Carolina on April 3, 1948 to the late Willard and Mattie (Kitchens) Ledford. Monroe married the love of his life, Mrs. Evelyn Denton on February 25,1967; the two were inseparable and even worked together at each job their entire life until she passed in 2019. They worked at Coats America for over twenty years and then for Towns County Schools in the maintenance department. Monroe liked to be busy, loved to go out and cut his grass, and enjoyed the many trips to the flea market and just out riding around. He was a hard worker, loved to joke around and spoiled his two granddaughters. He will be terribly missed.    Monroe was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Mattie Ledford; son, Ronnie Ledford; brothers, Lowell, Aaron, Tony and Eugene Ledford; and sister, Gwen Penland. He leaves behind granddaughters, Haley Barrett and Kendra Ledford; great-grandson, Grayson Barrett; daughter-in-law, Renee Ledford; sisters, Evelyn Crews, Mary Jo Martin, Dwayne Evans; and brother, Cranval Ledford. He also leaves behind a number of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.       Visitation: Monday, November 27, 2023 4:00-7:00PM at Banister-Cooper Funeral Home
