Monte Jean Mayo, 80, of Charles Town, WV passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at the Hospice of the Panhandle Inpatient Facility, Kearneysville, WV.

She was born on July 16, 1945 in Omaha, Nebraska. She was the cherished daughter of the late William and Dorothy Spier Clines.

Monte attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and graduated from the Nebraska Methodist Hospital School of Nursing. She was very proud to be an RN and had a fulfilling career dedicating many years of service at the Asbury Methodist Village in Gaithersburg, MD. Her compassion and professionalism left a lasting impact on her colleagues and the many lives she touched.

She is survived by her loving sons, Mark Mayo (Angela Blair) of Harpers Ferry, WV, and Michael Mayo of Charles Town, WV; her adored grandson, Preston Mayo; brother, John Clines (Wendy) of Florida; nephew, Scott Clines (Melissa) and niece, Danna Clines.

Interment will take place at 1:00 pm on Monday, January 12, 2026 at the Morris Orchard Natural Burial Ground, 9489 Pear Lane, Frederick, MD 21702. Friends and family are welcome.

Monte Jean Mayo's life and legacy will be remembered fondly by those who knew her as a caring mother, nurse, and beloved friend.

The family is grateful for the care provided by Hospice of the Panhandle and for the assistance provided by Michael Judd of Morris Orchard and the Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home in Ranson, WV during this difficult time. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Hospice of the Panhandle, 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville, WV 25430.
