Monte P. Patchen, 93, passed away at her loving home in the care of her family on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

She was born in Warren, Ohio, on January 28, 1932, to John and Zabeta (Anthony) Marmarinos.

Monte's life was anchored in hard work, unshakable faith, and a deep love for her family. Widowed at a young age after the loss of her husband, a Warren firefighter, she embraced her role as the matriarch of the family. She attended church every Sunday for as long as she was able, a reflection of the faith that shaped her life. She dedicated decades of her career to AVI Food Systems, retiring at the age of 77. For nearly 20 years, she drove her son to the Cleveland Clinic three times a week for dialysis-an enduring testament to her commitment and dedication to her family. To Monte, family was everything, and her legacy lives on through those who were fortunate to be loved by her.

She is survived by her daughter, Joy Balut; grandchildren, Justin (Michelle) Pate, Jacob Pate, Corey J. (Corey M.) Pate, Esther (Joey) Boarts, Jordan Pate, and Preston (Mara) Balut; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Patchen; son, Robert H. Patchen; sister, Helen Hitchcock; and brother, Gus Marmarinos.

A private service will be held for the family.

If you wish to honor Monte's memory, donations may be made to The Healthy Hearts and Paws Project or TNR of Warren, two organizations dedicated to the care and welfare of animals.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Holloway-Williams Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 611 Robbins Ave., Niles, Ohio. 330-652-2422.
