Monte Carl Ratcliff, a beloved father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully of natural causes on August 12, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on January 30, 1952, in Lampasas, Texas, Monte lived a life full of love, music, and connection, residing in Sainte Genevieve, Missouri at the time of his passing.

Monte was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle Theodore and Marjorie Belle (Ilgenfritz) Ratcliff and siblings, Robert "Bob" Ratcliffe, Joe Ratcliffe and Sandy Pepper.

A man of many talents, Monte was raised in a musical family and found joy in sharing his love for music. He played bass guitar in several bands throughout the United States, most notably was the Harvest Band with his brothers. Monte's passion for music was only rivaled by his dedication to his work in construction, where he built a successful career as a self-employed heating and cooling specialist.

Monte treasured the time spent with his family, often welcoming them into his home for cookouts and gatherings filled with laughter and love. He was a devoted father to his children-daughter Shannon (Ryan) Nickol and sons, Jason (Sheila) Ratcliff and Sam (fiancé Erica Anders) Ratcliff; mother of his children, Linda Osborne. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Grace (fiancé Anthony Smith) Nickol, Anthony Smith, Ryland Nickol, Cruz Anders, Wyatt Ratcliff, Jett Ratcliff, Brylee Ratcliff, and Raiden Ratcliff, along with his great-grandson, Finnigan Smith; brothers, Garry (Shirley) Ratcliffe and Lyle "Ted" Ratcliffe Jr., and his sister, Patricia Ratcliffe; sister-in-law, Kathy Ratcliff and special musician friend, Jim McCormick, along with several nephews, nieces, friends and family.

Monte was a man known for his selflessness, compassion, and a spirit of encouragement that inspired those around him. Everyone who knew him could always count on good advice and knowledge and help with whatever the problem. Whether he was fishing or enjoying a game of pool, his zest for life was evident in everything he did. His family describes him as a pillar of strength and affection who always had a kind word and an open heart.

The family encourages all who knew Monte to gather, share stories, and offer support to one another as they honor a truly remarkable man. Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Bonne Terre on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 12:00 PM until funeral service time of 2: 00 PM. Pastor Aaron Watkins is officiating. Burial to follow at St. Francois Memorial Park in Bonne Terre.

Monte Carl Ratcliff will be laid to rest in a burial service that reflects the love he brought to those around him. His spirit will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends, whose lives he enriched with his kindness and creativity. He will be dearly missed but will always be remembered for the joy he brought to the world.
