Sneed Carnley Funeral Chapel - Copperas Cove (formerly Viss Family FH)Travis Aaron Ratcliff, born on December 10, 1944, in Dalton, Georgia, peacefully departed this life on February 9, 2026, in Belton, Texas. He lived a life marked by dedication, humor, and a profound love for his family and friends.
Travis proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army during a pivotal time in history, enlisting in November 1963 amid the Berlin Crisis and the onset of the Vietnam War. His commitment to duty led him to the Army Security Agency, where he honed his skills and performed his responsibilities with honor, including basic training at Fort Wolters and a significant tour in Germany. He graduated from the 7th Army NCO Academy at Grafenwohr, Germany, and received accolades as Soldier of the Month and Soldier of the Quarter for the European ASA.
Following his military service, Travis embarked on a fulfilling career with the Civil Defense Administration (CDA), the precursor to what we now know as the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). He dedicated his career to service and leadership, ultimately achieving the position of Logistics Chief for Region VI.
His educational foundation began with a degree from the University of North Texas, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration. Known for his quietly funny personality, Travis was supportive, honest, and reserved, embodying integrity in all aspects of his life.
Travis cherished memories created around the fire pit with snacks and heartfelt conversations in his shop. A devoted family man, he loved picking vegetables with his granddaughter, Evie Ratcliff, and indulged in activities that brought him joy, including playing golf and working on vehicles. His adventurous spirit led him on travels to beautiful places, including Alaska and Santa Fe, with many joyful trips to Georgia to be with family.
He leaves behind a loving family, including his wife Jackie Ratcliff, son Aaron Ratcliff, daughter-in-law Kristie Ratcliff, granddaughter Evie Ratcliff, and step-daughter, Angela Wood. He is survived by his sisters Annell Cowan and Joy Cagle.
Travis is preceded in death by his mother, Tenie Agnes Ratcliff; father, Luther Andrew Ratcliff; first wife, Jo Ann Ratcliff; and siblings Jerry Ratcliff, Dale Ratcliff, and Jan Ratcliff.
A visitation will be held on March 2, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Copperas Cove Location in Copperas Cove, Texas. This will be followed by a graveside service at 1:00 PM in Killeen, Texas, concluding at 2:00 PM. Travis Ratcliff's legacy of love, laughter, and integrity will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
