Today I was researching again old friends & acquaintances & with deep sadness saw this article.
I first met Monte in 1979? through a friend at the time. My girlfriend in the late 70’s convinced me to help out as a side job at a horse farm in Yorktown, VA. It was a refreshing change from working as a psychiatric nurses aide ! Eventually I followed him and my girlfriend in 1979 to Charlestown Racetrack in WV. I took a job working in his training stable and have wonderful memories from that time! I admired Monte so much and always thought of him as a brother I wished I’d had. He always teased me & called me Mac. I lost touch with him in 1981 when he left for Florida. And I moved to Maryland until I returned to Virginia earlier this year.
I often wondered also about how Brian, Heather, & Monte Jr. are doing, and would love to hear from them. So very very sorry about your loss. I never forgot about Monte in all these years.

It was our pleasure to work for you, thank you for always making us smile. You were always positive no matter what the circumstances, and there were a few. We will miss you but your spirit will remain with us. God bless you and your family and know you will be in our thoughts and prayers. Thank you Monte for being the person you were, it was a gift to all.
