Montine Laverne Thomason

It is with great sorrow and profound joy that we announce the passing of a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother, Laverne Thomason, from this life into the unending joys of eternity with her Savior.

Laverne was the second born daughter of James Sanford and Omah Amba Dockins, sharecroppers in the Ozark Mountains. She was engaged to her sweetheart, Dorman A Thomason, just before he left for World War II. They married just a month after his return from the war.

The couple had one child, Soundra K Richardson, and lived most of their married life in and around Pueblo, Colorado. Laverne was a professional seamstress and avid quilter. She made matching dresses for her granddaughters nearly every Christmas and Easter. She loved Jesus, her family, and anything sweet to eat. She will be sorely missed by her daughter Soundra, granddaughters Kim (Brad) Edgar and Janice (Britt) Jeffcoat, great grandchildren Dustin Edgar, Abbey (Ben) Chesebrough, Catie Jeffcoat, Cameron Jeffcoat, and Jacob Jeffcoat, as well as her great great grandchildren Liam, Rissa, and Ethan Chesebrough.

Viewing will be at First Baptist Bloomfield, Saturday 9/6/2025 at 10 a, followed by the service at 11a. Interment will be at Memory Gardens, immediately following the service.
