Moon Ja Chi, 79, of Niles, IL passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 5 with her daughters by her side.
She was born on December 13, 1944. Raised in Korea, Moon Ja attended Chonnam National University College of Nursing and was selected for an elite program that brought her to Germany for 4 years. Upon moving to the U.S., Moon Ja met Hyo In and eventually settled in Chicago, Illinois, where they raised their two daughters. Moon Ja was a lifelong learner and diligent in her hobbies and careers. For over 30 years she maintained her primary career as a Registered Nurse, while also serving over 30 years as a US postal employee. Moon Ja played an active part in the Catholic Church in various ways. Her charitable contributions and participation as a volunteer and choir member were significant to her life. Above all, Moon Ja dedicated her life to her daughters and her beloved grandchildren. Her memory will be treasured by many loving family and friends.
Moon Ja Chi was preceded in death by (Jeong Gwonsik | Beloved Father), (Kim Gahb Bang | Beloved Mother), (Sunja | Elder Sister), (Pyeung Yeol | Younger Brother) and Beloved Husband, Hyo In Chi. Moon Ja is survived by (Yoo Yeol | Elder Brother), (Yeong Ja | Younger Sister), (Pyeong Yeo | Younger Sister) and (Pyeong Sim | Younger Sister), along with her loving nieces and nephews. These family members lived physically far and abroad, however, they held her very closely in their hearts. Moon Ja is also survived by and lives on through her daughters, Jamin (Steve) Chi and Victoria (Patrick) Chen; and her most treasured grandchildren, Pascal, Linnea and Aliyah.
A memorial service to celebrate Moon Ja Chi's life will be held on Friday, May 10 at 1:00 p.m. at Matz Mr. Prospect Funeral Chapel in Mt Prospect, IL.
Memorial donations may be made to Boston Children's Hospital.
The Chi family is in the care of Hankook Funeral Services.
