Morris Caruthers

Morris Caruthers, 96, passed away peacefully on New Years Day, Thursday, January 1, 2026. He was the beloved husband of the late Lorraine V. (Beaupre) Caruthers. The loving couple met in 1952 at the Polish Hall on Benefit St. in Pawtucket and cherished each other until Lorraine passed in 2018. Morris was born in Maude, Oklahoma, and was a son of the late Martin and Mary (Tehee) Caruthers. He was immensely proud of his Native American Cherokee Heritage and upbringing.

Morris was a United States Navy veteran of the Korean War, having enlisted at the young age of 17 years old. He proudly served aboard the United States Navy Battleship, USS Iowa BB-61 and subsequently the USS Joyce, stationed out of San Diego and Mier Island, California, respectively. He went on to a fifty-five-year long career as a lab technician at Teknor Apex in Pawtucket, until his retirement in 2001.

Morris was an avid fisherman (both saltwater and freshwater), a diehard Kansas City Chiefs and NASCAR fan, who could rattle off any stats and driver's record in a moment's notice. He was also an incredibly talented handyman, who was extremely mechanically inclined and enjoyed building innovative gadgets to be used around the house and his yard. Morris loved listening to Country Music, being outdoors, soaking in nature and caring for animals, from the squirrels and chipmunks to his beloved and devoted canine companion, "Buttons" In his younger days, Morris enjoyed coaching both his son's White Hawk Football Team (Hawk Eye's) and baseball team.

Above all, Morris was a devoted, proud, and loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend, who will be lovingly remembered for his great practical jokes and gregarious sense of humor and overall generous and kind nature. He will be missed by all whose lives he has touched over the past ninety-six years.

Morris leaves four children, Gail A. Case and her husband, John, III, of Attleboro, Robert M. Caruthers of South Attleboro, Keith G. Caruthers of Olive Hill, Kentucky, and Marc M. Caruthers and his wife, Rebecca, of Rehoboth; eight grandchildren, John E. Case, IV and his wife, Shawna, Ryan M. Case and his wife, Aimee, Jason A. Case and his wife, Amy, Kevin M. Case and his wife, Grace, Derrick M. Case, Austin Caruthers, Logan Caruthers, and Marc Caruthers; fifteen great-grandchildren, Sophie, Christian, Noah, Alexis, Madison, Mason, Ariana, Cody, Mya, Jalen, Alison, Jaclyn, Evelyn, and Jacson Case, and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Mary Frances Rollo, Gene Caruthers, John W. Caruthers, Ira R. Caruthers, and Rena Nez.

VISITATION will be held on Thursday, January 8th from 9 a.m. to Noon at WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket. SERVICES with Military Honors will follow at Noon in the funeral home.
