Morris Wayne "Morrie" Delbridge 75, of Long Creek, left this life to rest in his eternal home at 1:24 p.m., Friday, February 7, 2014, in his home with his family by his side. A service to celebrate Morris's life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion with Pastor Steve DeVore officiating. Burial will in Point Pleasant Cemetery, Long Creek. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Family. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.dawson-wikoff.com. Morris was born June 7, 1938, in Decatur, IL the son of Ernest and Dorothy (Denny) Delbridge. He was a graduate of Lakeview High School. He married Arlene McQueen on June 12, 1959. He enjoyed woodworking, building and remodeling homes, and attending his children's activities and grandchildren's sporting and show choir events. He also spent much time on his model trains and airplanes. He was actively involved with the UAW Local 751 for much of his life. He was retired from Caterpillar after 32 years of service. He had formerly worked for Tolly's Market and worked for many years part-time with Gates and Johnson Lumber Co. He was a member of Antioch Christian Church. Surviving is his wife: Arlene of Long Creek; daughters: Dianna Dalluge of Mt. Zion, Julie Davis and her husband Jim of Mt. Zion, and Pam Laskowski and her husband Bob of Mt. Zion; son-in-law: Brett A. Dilbeck of Mt. Zion; brother: David Delbridge and his wife Marilyn June of Mt. Zion; sister: Eleanor Alderson and her husband Francis of Knob Knoster, MO; grandchildren: Ronnie Dalluge and his wife Jamie, Anthony Miller, Andrew Dilbeck, Trevor Dilbeck, Adrianna Laskowski, Nathaniel Davis all of Mt. Zion and Jessica Mercer and her husband Brian of Lovington; great grandchildren: Kayla Dalluge and Riley Dalluge both of Mt. Zion and Samuel Renfro of Lovington. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter: Tina Dilbeck, four brothers and two sisters. The family wishes to extend sincere gratitude to their special nurse: Shirley, caregiver: Gina, Dr. Dan Smith, his nurse Karen and staff.
