Morris Taylor Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 13, 2025.
Morris (Mo) Lamar TaylorJanuary 3, 1937 - November 7, 2025

Morris Lamar Taylor, 88, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025, surrounded by his loving children.

Born on January 3, 1937, to Lawrence and Zelma Taylor, Morris grew up as the youngest of four children alongside his siblings Horace (Tex), Laverne (Sissy), and Bobby, all of whom preceded him in death. He really loved and admired his parents and siblings and spoke of them highly, and often.

Morris met the love of his life, Phyllis Foster, in high school, and were married nearly 59 years before her passing in August of 2016. They raised and are survived by their three children Clay Taylor, Larry Taylor (Kaye), and Tiffany White (Jason); his grandchildren Cory Taylor (Darelly), Lindsi Brosig (Jace), Tanner Taylor (Paige), Kristen Horton (Chaz), Jace White, and Camdyn White; and his great-grandchildren Madison and Clay Taylor, Shylee and Whitley Taylor, Lincoln and Waylon Brosig, Evelyn "Evie" Horton and her baby sister that is on the way. He also has numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he loved.

Morris was an avid golfer for most of his life. He had a passion for the game that he eagerly shared with everyone around him. He had quite the collection of golf clubs, many of which he gifted to friends, fellow golfers, and kids just learning to play. Known affectionately as "Mo," he spent much of his free time at the San Felipe Country Club, either out on the course or cutting up with friends in the 19th hole.

A man of many talents, Morris could play just about any instrument he picked up. He was never taught to read music, but he had a natural gift for playing by ear. He loved to sit down at a piano, play songs he knew or just make up a song on the spot. He filled many rooms with melody and laughter and even recorded a few records. He was quite the entertainer.

Morris also had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. From an early age, he had a sharp mind and quick wit-gifts he shared generously throughout his life. He was a natural storyteller, always ready with a funny tale or a clever joke. He was making his caregivers laugh right up until the very end of his life.

Morris had a long career as an accountant, only retiring earlier this year. Retirement didn't come easy for him as he truly valued his clients and the relationships he built with them over the years.

Morris's life was a vibrant one, marked by laughter, music, and love. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the songs he played, the stories he told, and the people he touched.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM at First Christian Church, 2101 N. Main St, Del Rio, Texas. A "Celebration of Life" will follow at the Ramada Inn, 2101 Veterens Blvd., Del Rio, Texas from 2:00 PM-5:00 PM.
