Mr. Kenneth Delano Teston, affectionately known to friends and family as Ken, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Upson Regional Medical Center. He was 82.
Born on December 19, 1942, in Tampa, Florida, Ken led a life filled with dedication, creativity, and love for his family. Ken devoted 44 years of his career as a lineman, ultimately retiring from Marable-Pirkle. Following his retirement, he continued to share his expertise by traveling as a supervisor, consultant, and inspector, with assignments in Florida, Texas, and Minnesota. He was a member of the Florida National Guard for six years, during which he developed a profound appreciation for service and commitment. Ken was not only known for his professional skills but also for his remarkable hobbies and interests. He had a talent for woodworking, famously crafting swings for his family, showcasing his creativity and craftsmanship. He enjoyed playing guitar and singing, often bringing joy to those around him. Ken also had a unique ability to fix almost anything with just duct tape and WD-40, which became part of his charm. Ken was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
Above all, he cherished his family, which he considered his proudest accomplishment. He shared a loving marriage of 59 years with his wife, Mary Berry Teston, of Thomaston. Together, they raised a family that included their son Bobby Teston (Jina) of Yatesville, their daughter Stacey Cobb (Jason) of Scottsdale, Arizona, their son Bubba Teston of Concord, and their daughter Jennifer Gassett of Yatesville. Ken's legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Chase Teston (Kimberly), Thor Shiver (Ashley), Seth Cobb, Abby Cobb, Ashley Cobb, Stefanie Jones (Bryan), Sarah Maddox (Jessie), and Kailin Gassett (Makenna). He was also a proud great-grandfather to ten great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Stanton Madison Teston and Josephine Rodriguez Teston, as well as his brothers, Ralph and Fred Teston, his granddaughter, Jessica Nicole Teston, and great-granddaughter, Ember Shiver.
A funeral service for Ken will be held Thursday, August 21, at 3:00 PM, at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Pastor Eric Kincaid will officiate, and interment will follow in South View Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home.
Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Heart Association or to the Alzheimer's Foundation in Ken's memory.
