Adams announces the passing of Mr. Ronald Grant., 65, who transitioned on Monday, December 23, 2024, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Mr. Ronald E. Grant was born was born on July 17, 1959, in Savannah, Georgia to Henry and Naomi Grant. He graduated from Savannah High School in 1978 where he lettered in football and basketball. Ronald and his older brother, Sherman, were on the Savannah High Basketball team that won the 1976 AAA State Championship.
As a well-known radio personality, he was best known as “DJ Ronald Fly” and enjoyed a career working for various radio stations in Savannah(E93), Miami and Memphis (KMB). In addition, he worked in Sales until his health began to decline. Ronald lived a life connected to the music industry and mentored many family members, coworkers and those that followed in his path.
Memphis, Tennessee is where he met and married the love of his life, Norlean Echols, and to this union they had two sons, Ronald and Cortelius.
On December 23, 2024, his physical life ended at St. Joseph’s Hospital and his eternal life began. He is now reunited with his wife, Norlean Echols Grant; mother, Naomi Grant; father, Henry Grant; sister, Leslie Grant Sampson and brothers, Henry Grant, Douglas Grant, Marvin Grant and Steven Grant.
Ronald leaves behind to cherish his memories: two sons, Ronald Echols, Sr. (Kimberly) and Cortelius Echols; two grandchildren, Ronald Echols, Jr. and Jordan Echols; sisters, Sharon G. Redmond and Margaret Brown; brothers, Paul Grant, Greg Dawson (Bernice), Sherman Grant, Jack Grant (Renee) and Michael Green; brothers-in law, Charlie Sampson, Enoch Echols (Janice), and Ray Brown; sisters-in-law, Janie Jones (Bob), Louise McCullum (Victor), Mary Mayes (Richard) and Sallie Fuller (Cornell); aunts, Linda Davis and Dorothy Byrd and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday January 4, 2025, at 11:00am in the Adams Chapel.
