Mrs. Ann McFarlin Olive, age 90, of Yatesville, GA, died Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Providence Health Care of Thomaston. Funeral services for Mrs. Olive will be held on Sunday, October 12, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Upson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home on Saturday, October 11 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM.
Mrs. Olive was born in Atlanta, GA, on October 2, 1935, to the late T. J. “Jeffie” McFarlin and the late Grace Bishop McFarlin, and the family moved to Upson County in 1948. Mrs. Olive received a BS degree in education from Georgia State College for Women in 1957, and her career with Upson County Schools spanned 32 years before her retirement in May, 1992. As an active member of the Yatesville Methodist Church, she served as church treasurer, taught Sunday School classes, and played the piano for church services. She also served with United Methodist Women as president, program chairman, and secretary.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Olive was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Olive, III, and her son, Robert M. (Mac) Olive. She is survived by a son, Keith (Wendi) Olive of Yatesville, three grandchildren: Jeffrey (Jessica) Olive, Jennifer Olive, and Lauren (Amber) Olive, and two great grandchildren: Meredith Olive and Madison Olive.
The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the staffs of Providence Health Care and Thomaston Hospice for their compassion and care for Mrs. Olive.
