Age: 83

Northport Funeral & Cremation Service family extends our warmest condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the family of Mrs. Judith Camp. Mrs. Camp passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2024 in Northport, AL.

Judith Camp, called Judye or Jada by her friends, sailed out of this life on Thursday, the 11th day of April 2024; gladly leaving behind replaced knees, a broken shoulder, replace shoulder, as well as many other deterrents to peaceful living. She will miss her friends and hope they of her often and fondly.

Born March 28, 1941; she was preceded in death by her parents, E.W. Skidmore, and Paula Joss Skidmore; brother, Paul Skidmore, and sister, Mickey Skidmore.

She leaves behind her loving husband of 37 years, Albert; two stepdaughters, Connie Camp (Tim) Shields, and Pam Camp (Dodie) Morris; four grandchildren, Jennifer Ayers (Lance), Tarah Hamlet (Jordan), Brandon Shields (Hunter), and Tanner Selman (Nick); six great grandchildren, two loving nieces and nephews.

She held a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Alabama. She used the knowledge from her studies to teach, a career she really loved for 33 years. Upon retirement she worked for Youth Emergency Service at Juvenile Court recruiting volunteers to fill the many gaps in young people’s lives. Later, she returned to teaching and taught for 7 years at Holy Spirit Catholic High School.

Even in retirement teaching beckoned her, and she was both pupil and teacher with OLLI program at the University of Alabama.

She was also an accomplished knitter. Her favorite item to knit were christening gowns, which were worn by her great nieces and nephews and a great grandchild. At any baby shower, the expectant mother usually received a blanket, or some other hand-knit garment.

Details of her memorial will be published in the Northport Gazette.

Compassionate, sympathetic, and professional service has been entrusted to the hands and care of the Northport Funeral & Cremation Service Professional Team.
