Marie Alexandra Specksgoor (Antes), 56, of Richmond Virginia, passed away on August 15th, 2025 alongside her family and closest friends. Marie was a beloved mother, Mimi, wife, and friend. Marie found happiness in the simple joys of life-tending her garden, filling her kitchen with the smell of fresh-baked treats, and getting lost in a good book or tv show. The beach was her sanctuary, where she could spend endless hours searching for seashells along the South Carolina shore.

Those who knew Marie will remember her for her quick wit, her unshakeable strength, her blunt honesty, and most of all, the way her heart overflowed with love for her family and friends.

She leaves behind her husband and best friend, Larry; her beloved children, Jessica, Peter, and Meghan; her grandchildren, Marcelo and Rowan, who brought her endless joy; her parents, John and Janet; her sister, Julie; and many nieces and nephews who adored her.

She also leaves behind her loyal companion, Izzy, who never left her side. Marie is now reunited with her precious son, Nicholas, and her beloved dogs, Negan and Maggie, who preceded her in passing and have been waiting to welcome her home.

A celebration of Marie's life will be held in early November, with details to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her honor to the Brain Trauma Foundation.

Marie will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her laughter, strength, and love left an undeniable mark on the lives she touched, and her spirit will continue to guide and inspire those who carry her memory in their hearts. She will never be forgotten.
