Mrs. Sandra "Sandy" Barfield, born on January 27, 1962, in Upson County, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Atrium Health Navicent in Macon, Georgia. She was 63. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and creativity that will be remembered by all who knew her.
Sandy's career was marked by her dedication and service to numerous institutions, including Carter's, Thomaston Mills, Southern Mills, Upson-Lee High School Cafeteria, and eventually as an Inspector with Tencate. Her contributions in these roles were a testament to her strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. A proud graduate of the R. E. Lee Institute, class of 1980, Sandy embraced life with a loving spirit. She was known for her exceptional personality, characterized by her ability to encourage others and her penchant for laughter. Sandy's hobbies reflected her zest for life; she was passionate about arts and crafts, enjoyed attending festivals, and cherished holiday cooking for her family. Additionally, she found joy in watching movies, QVC, and the Home Shopping Network. A devoted grandmother, she made it a daily ritual to pick up her grandson, Tucker Boyt, from school, creating treasured moments that will forever remain in the hearts of her family.
Sandy is survived by her beloved daughter, Amber (Chris Watson) Barfield of Thomaston; her devoted mother, Sally Tucker of Thomaston; her boyfriend, James Peaden of Thomaston; her two brothers, Monte (Brooke) Tucker and Danny (Amanda Greene) Tucker, both of Thomaston; her grandson, Tucker Boyt; her two nieces, Allyssa Murphy and Aubrey Tucker, and her cat, Skittles AKA Boo Boo.
She was preceded in death by her father, Aubrey Lewis Tucker, and her husband, Alton Barfield.
A funeral service to honor Sandy's life will take place on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 2:00 PM, in the chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Ridge O'Neal will officiate, and interment will follow at Upson Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home.
Sandy's warmth and nurturing spirit will be profoundly missed by her family and friends. Her memory will continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to share in her life.
