Muriel Tiedemann, 98, passed away peacefully at home with her beloved husband and lifelong sweetheart, Bud, by her side. Married for 74 years, Muriel and Bud built a beautiful life together filled with love – living in Hamden, Wolfeboro, New Hampshire and finally residing in Wallingford.
Muriel worked as a Teller/Office Manager in several local banks. She was best known for her generous spirit and the way she expressed love through her baking. Her famous apple pie and "Grandmother's Children Delights" cookies were treasured family traditions.
Friends and family were truly at the heart of Muriel's world. She never missed a family event, from dance recitals to graduations, and made sure every birthday was celebrated by her singing "Happy Birthday," whether you were turning four or forty.
Muriel is survived by her loving husband Frederick (Bud) Tiedemann and her daughters, Nancy Mahoney (Ken) and Barbara Greer (Stuart). She was known as Mama to her adoring grandchildren, Kristen (Brian), Erin (Sean), Courtney (fiancée Brian), and Kayti (Tom); and her cherished great-grandchildren, known as her "little ones" – Eila, Emry, Liam, and Callie. Also surviving her are her siblings, Jean Carlson and Frank (Betsy) Fowler. She was predeceased by her parents, Frederick J. and Edith Parke Fowler, and sisters, Betty Kircher, Ethel Nann and Winifred Miller. Her family and friends will remember her as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose kindness, warmth, and love filled every room she entered.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a memorial service honoring Muriel's life on Saturday, November 1st at 11:00 a.m. in the Mount Carmel Congregational Church, 3284 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Those attending are asked to wear her favorite color – blue. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Mount Carmel Congregational Church. Arrangements in care of Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden. To send condolences to Muriel's family, please see her obituary at www.beecherandbennett.com.
