A beautiful memorial was held on Saturday, August 21 at Ramapo College.
Those seeking to connect to Two Clouds are welcome to view a wonderful sculptural piece hanging in the lobby of Ramapo College's Berrie Center. Two Clouds was deeply involved in creating the piece---he was the subject---and he helped hang the installation at Ramapo. I will add some photos. And here is the artist's commentary on the piece:
Ever Upward, Ever Afloat by Camile Hoffman

Originally presented on the occasion of Queens International 2018: Volumes as part of Queens Museum´s series of contemporary works mounted in relation to the Relief Map of New York City´s Water System.

In April 2018, I had the privilege of speaking with Two Clouds, a Ramapo College student, Ramapough Lenape tribal member and full-time water protector at Split Rock Sweetwater Prayer Camp in Mahwah, New Jersey. Preserving the language, religion, and history of his tribe, Two Clouds is especially focused on Indigenous rights and actively fought against the Pilgrim Pipeline that threatened New York and New Jersey waters. Our insightful exchange around water as it pertains to deep cultural traditions, ancestral trade routes, and long-standing colonial violence on this land has prompted me to critically reexamine my own personal interconnection with water, consumption and transoceanic identity. Drawing from our conversations and responding to the Queens Museum´s 1939 World's Fair relief model of the New York City water supply system, I researched the colonial symbols pertaining to water and commerce emphasized in the New York state seal, ultimately reformulating them with my own found materials.
Within the center of the New York seal, inland and foreign trade are represented by a masted sloop and ship docking on the Hudson River. In my installation, I replaced the sloop with a portrait of Two Clouds in his canoe advancing toward the viewer, and substituted the Western ship with a collaged pre-colonial Balangay "mother boat" from my maternal grandparents´ homeland in the Philippines. The various mass-produced materials I incorporated in my work were purchased from Queens hardware and dollar stores that serve primarily immigrant communities living around the museum. These materials include locally-sourced water in the form of printed plastics, party decorations, hurricane tarps and nature calendars bought in Woodside, Jackson Heights, and the Flushing neighborhood where my paternal grandfather formerly grew up during the time of the New York World´s Fair.

"Excelsior", a Latin term meaning "Ever Upward", is the official motto of New York State, and is also prominently featured on the state seal, which was first adopted in 1778. Excelsior is likewise a name for a material-the thin wood shavings made typically from "clonal colonies" of aspen trees which grow in the highlands across North America. I used this material while reflecting on the political and poetic discrepancies between "Excelsior", the motto connoting invincibility, and excelsior, the organic material used for environmental preservation. These shavings, embedded within my installation, are also commonly used as packaging for fragile objects including art, erosion control for farms and gardens, filling for stuffed animals and padding for evaporative home cooling systems known as swamp coolers.

I am Muriyd´s (Two Clouds´) mother. He and I were (are) extremely close; in fact, our family is extremely close. `Distraught´ is not sufficient enough a word to describe my current state over the transitioning of my beloved son. My first born, I raised him to be a leader and in service to others, and he exceeded my expectations in such a short amount of years. I am utterly devastated, to say the least, that he is no longer here in the flesh. However, reading testimonies from those whom he touched helps to soothe my spirit. I am so very happy that he spent his time here doing good. I pray Allah is pleased with him (Amin).

Met two clouds in October 2021, he was a true blessing and open up his heart and his culture to us. He called my friend and I his aunties. So sad to hear of his loss. He truly was a living testament of how to walk through life fearlessly and with purpose.

Two Clouds was a remarkable young person. I recommended him for a scholarship at Ramapo College and he became a student in our Environmental Studies program. He drifted off to earn a living, and I worked to get him back. He planned to return. He spoke often on campus about the Ramapough. Many hundreds of students attended these events and Two Clouds added greatly to their understanding and growth. He was loved by students and faculty alike. Two Clouds sought to be a peacemaker, bridging differences and bringing people together who too often are in conflict. On Facebook, I witnessed his joy in holding his child, in nature, in visiting other tribes. He devoted himself to others while he worked to find his own way. Just after I heard of his tragic death, I went outside to calm myself and looked up. There were Two clouds peacefully drifting on their way across the sky. His memory is served by finding this peace on earth as well.
