Murray Joseph Fuselier, born September 15, 1947, in St. Martinville, was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and respected community leader. Murray’s passion for the outdoors was evident in his love for hunting, fishing, and his devotion to golf—especially his enjoyment of the annual St. Martinville golf invitational.
After graduating from St. Martinville Senior High, Murray served six years in the U.S. Army National Guard and later retired as a Construction Inspector with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. His dedication to his hometown shone through his efforts to help create and lead St. Martinville’s first t-ball baseball league, as well as his years coaching little league football, where he inspired countless young athletes.
Murray was known for his warm smile, quick wit, and steadfast support for those around him. He was a constant presence at his grandchildren’s activities, always cheering them on with pride. As a former President of the St. Martinville Jaycees, Murray worked tirelessly to better his community. He was truly the life of every gathering, bringing joy and laughter wherever he went. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for his kindness, patience, dedication, and zest for life.
He is survived by his son, Craig Fuselier (Wendy); daughters, Christine Fuselier Poche (Mark) and Victoria Fuselier Romero (Troy); grandchildren, Tyler Poche (Laci), Hanna Poche Broussard (Kylin), Cole Fuselier, Shelbi Romero and Isabella Romero; great-grandchildren, Cane Poche.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Fuselier; parents, Carroll and Bibienne Fuselier, Sr.; brothers, Carroll Fuselier, Jr. and Warren Fuselier. Pallbearers will be Mark Poche, Troy Romero, Tyler Poche, Cole Fuselier and Kylin Broussard.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice of Acadiana especially Emily and ACare Partners especially Linda, and his private caregivers, Janet, Sheriba, Angie 1 and 2 and LaShaun for all the special care they gave to Mr. Murray.
