Passed on December 22, 2024. A man of intellect, humor and integrity, Murray chose a life of service for the people of Charles County, Maryland.
Murray is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sherry.

Murray was one of a kind. Tough, but fair, and always erring on the side of integrity. Although I often sparred with him on employee issues, he respected my opinions and recommendations, even though some took more persuasion than others. Rest in peace, Mr. Levy.

Great man for sure. He was the driving force behind establishing the career EMS service in Charles county. He had a great vision for the future and established a 5 year plan to grow the system. He did a great job and I personally thanked him for making such a strong and bold decision. We had some good conversations in the local Safeway about the county and the growth we were seeing. I really admired him. A great county commissioner.

Saddened by Murray's passing. I first met Murray as a County Commissioner when I moved to La Plata in 1986 to work for a local engineering firm. Throughout my many years of interactions, he was a dedicated public servant, smart, fair, with great humor, and high moral character and integrity. He did the right thing when it was tough, a hallmark of a great leader. He will be missed. Our prayers and thoughts are with his family.

My condolences to Sherry and family to a great man and awesome president of County commissioners. Got to know Murray when really better when I was elected Sheriff of Charles County in 1994. He along with other commissioners at the time worked so hard to build the personnel needed to allow sheriff´s office to provide complete protection of our citizens. I´ve known Murray for many years - from the Waldorf Jaycees where he was an Honorary Member, through the Charles County Chamber of Commerce, through County Government, and as a colleague serving with me in the Maryland House of Delegates. He could make you laugh in a heartbeat! He knew how to solve problems and get things done! He enriched the lives of Charles Countians. I´m glad to have been his friend. My condolences Sherry and family.

I was saddened to learn of Murray´s passing. Murray was President of the Charles County MD Board of County Commissioners when the Board hired me as County Administrator. That began a multi-year working relationship between us which were some of the best years of my career. I had the deepest admiration and respect for Murray, who was one of the finest public servants I came to know in over 30 years in Maryland County government. He was whip smart, funny, and dedicated to making the County a great place to live and work. It was a pleasure to serve alongside him for almost 10 years. Subsequent boards have never been the same after his departure, and his leadership was sorely missed. He went on to serve as a Delegate to the MD General Assembly, but his heart was always back with Charles County solving real problems.
