It is with broken hearts that we share the sudden and unexpected passing on Friday, May 2, 2025 of our beloved Mya Khamae Nakkoun. Mya was truly one of a kind—an amazing daughter, sister, and family member whose love and light touched everyone she met.
She was born on October 3, 2003 in Cambridge, MA to her loving parents, Vilay and Maria (Lopez) Nakkoun. Mya was a graduate of University High School, Class of 2022 and was most recently attending Valencia College where Mya was set to graduate in December and continue on in her studies in nursing.
Mya was the kind of person who made everyone feel seen and valued. Humble and compassionate, she had a heart bigger than words can express. She was fun, vibrant, outgoing—a true sweetheart who welcomed everyone with warmth and open arms. Mya had everyone’s back. Her laugh was contagious, and her spirit unforgettable.
In addition to her parents, Vilay and Maria, Mya is survived by her two sisters, Giselle Nakkoun and Kassandra Galarza; two brothers, Zayden and Vilay Nakkoun, Jr.; and her two nephews Izaiah Lopez and Armani David; maternal grandmother, Aida Jimenez; many aunts and uncles, several cousins, and countless friends.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Juan Lopez; and her paternal grandparents, Khambay and Ky Nakkoun.
