Myra Gail Beadles, 80, of Commerce, Texas, died peacefully on July 27, 2025. She was born in Commerce on September 29, 1944, the daughter of Weymon Moon Mullins and Aldean Jenkins. Education was a large part of her life, not only to her own education, but to educate generations of children over the course of her forty-five years of teaching. Myra received her bachelors degree in 1966 and her masters in 1969 from East Texas State University in Commerce. During her teaching career in Commerce ISD, she taught second, third, and fifth grades. She spent her last twelve years teaching sixth grade science at the Commerce Middle School. Concurrently, she also taught GED in 1995, and elementary education from 1998-2002 at TAMU-C.
Outside of teaching, in various years, she served as Commerce Classroom Teachers Association Local President, District 8 Director and District 10 director. She also presented at multiple conferences and was a member of numerous associations over the years. Myra received commendations over the years to include ETSU Alumni Ambassador in Education, Distinguished Clinician of the Year from Texas Teacher Educators, A.C. Williams Teacher of the Year, Commerce Middle School Teacher of the Year and was inducted into the Commerce ISD Hall of Fame in 2013.
Myra wrote a paper on community involvement, of which we would like to share some of her message:
The role of a teacher may be defined as a liaison between the community and the classroom. When a teacher is doing any kind of community service, they are first and foremost still a teacher. Teachers are role models wherever they go. We have a responsibility to give to the community in any way we can. In return, we are able to see children coming to our classrooms happy, well fed, loved, and prepared to learn. Learning is contagious.
Myra is preceded in death by her parents, Weymon and Aldean Mullins.
She is survived by her sons, Brandon (Shane) Beadles of Lake City Florida and Ryan (Tamara) Beadles of Commerce, Texas; four grandchildren, Cody (Lauren) Beadles, Sierra (Josh) Deese, Laura Van Beadles of Lake City, Florida and Hudson Beadles of Commerce, Texas; four great grandchildren, Raleigh and Avery Beadles and Rhipp and Beckett Deese of Lake City, Florida.
