Myra Elizabeth Blake, 86, passed away, peacefully, at home on Tuesday, December 16, 2025. Services for Myra will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Strickland funeral home in Caldwell, Texas. Visitation is from 12pm – 2pm; funeral service will follow at 2pm. Interment will be held at Brookside Memorial Park in Houston, on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 10am.
Myra was born on October 31, 1939, in Houston, Texas, to Albert and Ruth Rock. She was the first born of seven children. Myra attended Aldine High School in the graduation class of 1958. In August of 1958, she married the love of her life, Donald Blake, and spent the next 67 years loving him and raising their five children.
She loved to travel and she traveled with a map in her hand. The Summer vacations were a long series of cross-country road trips and family camping adventures, traveling through 30 states over the years. She was an avid bowler, bowling in the Women’s League each fall season from 1968 to 2020. In the mid 1990’s she became fascinated with Genealogy, after 20 years of travel and research, she has left a remarkable written history of her family.
She also found pure enjoyment in watching the Astros play, which is a memory that her family will cherish.
Myra is preceded in death by her sons Donald Blake Jr. and Timothy David Blake and her grandson Joseph Blake.
She is survived by her daughters Deborah Blake, Naomi Blake-Diaz and son William Blake, and her 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
