Myra Lynn Cain, a beacon of love and caregiving, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, at the age of 77 in Westland, Michigan. Born on August 1, 1948, in Michigan, to the late Robert and Margaret Hale, Myra was a nurturing soul whose kindness touched the lives of all who knew her.
Myra's story is one of enduring love and family. She and her beloved husband, Alvin Cain, shared a classic love story, having met when Alvin would visit the restaurant where Myra worked as a waitress after his bar shifts. Their chance encounters blossomed into a lifetime of love, culminating in their marriage on July 1, 1967. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, adventures, and the joy of raising their three daughters, Ivye Shier (Tom), Amy Courtright (Harold III), and Toby Cain.
A matriarch in every sense of the word, Myra was not only the best mom and grandma, but also "everybody's mom." Her home was a sanctuary of warmth and nourishment, often filled with the aroma of her cooking. She delighted in feeding everyone, whether it was breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and her major holiday feasts were legendary among family and friends.
Myra's love for her family extended to her cherished grandchildren, Rikki, Shauna, Wayne, Allie, Chazz, Jesica, and Zachary, and she was blessed to see the joy of her great-grandchildren, KayLee, Elizabeth, Markie, Rosabella, Zailynn, Hailey, Harper, and Freya. Her siblings, Kim (Glen), the late Vera (the late Rick), and the late Dennis, held a special place in her heart, as she did in theirs.
An avid traveler, Myra's favorite excursions were the simple yet profound pleasures of camping trips with her family. She held a particular fondness for the Amish Community in Holmes County, Ohio, where she created countless memories with her loved ones.
A woman of many interests, Myra was a savvy shopper who knew the value of a dollar. Her green thumb brought beauty and bounty to her garden, and she took great satisfaction in canning fresh vegetables each season. She enjoyed the camaraderie of bowling, the strategy of card games like Euchre and Pinochle, and the tranquility of her garden.
Myra's gentle spirit was evident in her unwavering kindness; she was known for not having a bad thing to say about anyone. Her capacity to forgive and love easily was her superpower, and her life philosophy was one of no regrets, full of love for her life and family.
Myra Lynn Cain will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Her legacy of love, care, and joy will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. As she once said, "I wouldn't change a thing." Her life was a testament to the power of love and the beauty of a life well-lived.
