Myra J. Deckert

Myra J. Deckert, 95, of Richland Center, died Friday, November 14, 2025, at Pine Valley Community Village. She was born on July 9, 1930, in Sylvan Township, the daughter of Verlin and Sarah Ellen (Dutton) Kepler. United in marriage at the Mill Creek parsonage on January 9, 1948, to Keith Deckert, their marriage lasted a remarkable 76 years. Together, they enjoyed playing cards, polka dancing, and the friendship of neighbors and friends.
Keith and Myra farmed for many years, developing an outstanding Holstein herd. In addition to her role as a farm wife, Myra worked briefly at Seats in Reedsburg. After moving from the farm to Richland Center, she assisted Keith with his duties at Wonder Wash and was a caring childcare provider. Myra kept journals detailing her daily life and memories, which have provided precious memories for her family to treasure. She was an exceptional cook, and every meal, from a simple supper to a large family gathering, was a tasty treat.
Myra was a loving presence for her family, which numbers over seven dozen.
Survivors include her 7 children, Ken (Jane) Deckert of Scales Mound, IL, Rita Jenkins of McFarland, Robert (Helen) Deckert, Paul (Therese) Deckert, Ron (Cindy) Deckert all of Richland Center, Beverly (Len) Mielke of Janesville, Pam (Jim) Spencer of Richland Center; adopted daughter, Gina Hanson; 24 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren; Brother, Loren (Jeanine) Kepler; Brother-in-law, Johnny Keehn; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Keith and Myra's gift of hospitality and kindness made their house a home to many people and children they counted as their own.
Myra was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Keith; a son, Raymond Keith; a sister, Moreen Keehn; and three grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Clary Memorial Funeral Home in Richland Center. Burial will be held at the Mill Creek Cemetery with Ron Fruit officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.
