Myra Helena Phillips, 84 years old of
Freehold, NJ went to rest surrounded by her family on July 24th 2024. She was born February 1, 1940, on the Caribbean Island of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. She was the daughter of Alpheaus and Olga Simmons and the eldest of 8 siblings. After migrating to Barbados in 1967, she worked as a chef for multiple establishments over several years. During her time in Barbados, she started studying the bible with Jehovah's witnesses. In 1975 she migrated to New Jersey where she worked as a nanny for the Pantozzi and Barnes-Dixon families. She studied the bible with Loretta Morris and dedicated her life to Jehovah on 12-15-1979.
She was a faithful servant of Jehovah until her death. She auxiliary pioneered from time to time and thoroughly enjoyed the preaching and teaching work. She was a splendid example to her children which resulted in two of them dedicating their lives to Jehovah, also to her sister and niece who dedicated their lives to Jehovah. Myra was always behind the scenes working to help others in various roles. She and her best friend Geneva Fair were well known in Freehold for participating in the ministry. Preaching was an integral part of her life. She was loving, kind, caring, generous and very hospitable. Anyone who met Myra can attest to the fact that she has always welcomed them with open arms. As the matriarch of the family, she took care of everyone and was considered a strict disciplinarian.
Myra is survived by her 4 children, Vero Simmons, Laverne Clarke (Husband Rudolph Clarke), Edward Simmons (Wife Charlene Simmons), and Nerissa Simmons Tucker (Husband Anthony Tucker and Debra West (Husband Michael West) whom she raised as a daughter as well. She was a loving grandmother to Kevin Simmons, Ka'Sandra Simmons, Rashawn Clarke, Phillip Simmons (Wife Abraia Simmons), Julian Simmons, Derick Clarke, Dario Simmons, and Michael West Jr. as well as 5 great grandchildren Leilanni Marable Clarke, Braison Simmons, Elijah Clarke, Chance Simmons, and Aiden Clarke. She is also survived by her sisters, Sylvia Merrill (Husband Balfour Merrill), Olive Cupid, Janice Jackson (Husband Fred Jackson), Joycelyn Theobalds (Husband Sobers Theobalds). Myra is predeceased by her 3 brothers John, Orden, and Noel Simmons.
She leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews: Cleotus, Susan Davis (Husband Germaine Davis), Keisha, Catasha, Paul, Mattis, Wayne, Orlando, Bilal, Ishmael, Jamal, Natasha, Hannah, Princess, Michael, Shadrach,, Kimberly, Wendy Mounter (Husband Raymond Mounter), David Harris, Patricia Wyatt, Venous Cupid, Natalie Victory and a host of great nieces and nephews including Jamila Cupid and Paul Morris Jr, Graham Simmons, Clarissa Davis, Brandon, Liliana, Yahira, Paul Jr, Noah & Christian Bradshaw, Tatianna and Thompson. She also leaves behind special family including Genethia and Xavier Thomas, Kim and Sharon Sutton, Joyce Kinch, Barry Richards, Novelette Williams, Pam and Arianna Johnson and Hester Reese, all of whom loved her dearly. Loving memories of Myra's wonderful life will be cherished by an abundance of family and friends.

The viewing will be beld on Friday, August 2, 2024, from 11:00am-1:00pm at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold NJ
The memorial talk will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 2:00pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 141 Court Street,
