Myra Jean White

Myra Jean Cooper White lived a life marked by faith, family, and faithful service. Myra was born in Orange County, North Carolina to Ollie H. Cooper and Panzie Azell Nichols Cooper. She was united in holy matrimony to Archie L. White on May 22, 1965, and together they shared many loving years until his passing on November 16, 2020. She remained devoted to his memory, carrying forward the legacy they built together.

A lifelong educator, she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Winston-Salem State University. She dedicated 34 years to the teaching profession, serving 1½ years in Caswell County Schools and 33 years in Orange County Schools, where she impacted countless lives through her commitment, patience, and love for children.

Her legacy is one of service, strength, and steadfast devotion-to her family, her students, and her calling. She will be remembered for her wisdom, quiet strength, and the generations she helped shape both at home and in the classroom. She was a dedicated and devoted member of Paynes Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church working tirelessly with the Missionary Society and the Lay Origination. Myra was also a volunteer with Orange Congregations In Missions (OCIM).

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children, Felisia White-English (Eric) and Kelvin L. White (Deanna); her treasured grandchildren, Chelsea A. English and Jordan A. English; and her adored great-grandchildren, Zoe A. English, Justin A. English, and Julianna A. English; and a cherished sister to Marjareite Crisp, Sylvia Rippy, and Gwinderline Poteat; loving and devoted in-laws: Fred and Veatrice White and Danita White all of whom survive her along with a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, former students and dear and devoted friends.

In addition to her loving husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers-in-laws: Bobby Poteat, Fred Rippy and Norris Crisp.
