Myrna Katherine Champagne, 80, passed away peacefully in Groves, Texas, on November 1, 2025. Born on February 3, 1945, to Quincy and Rudy Janssens, Myrna grew up in a close-knit family and attended Port Neches-Groves High School.
In 1966, Myrna married her high school sweetheart, David “Nickie” Champagne. Together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and faith, sharing 58 wonderful years of marriage until his passing last year. Early in her marriage, Myrna worked for First National Bank before dedicating herself to her greatest joy, raising their three children and creating a warm, loving home.
Myrna will be remembered for her playful sense of humor, unwavering Catholic faith, and deep devotion to her family. Her home was always filled with love, laughter, and the delicious smells of her cooking. She was known for her incredible meals, her love of reading and old movies, and her enjoyment of puzzles and games. She took pride in her garden and yard, a passion she shared with her husband and parents.
Always a source of wisdom and comfort, Myrna had a special gift for listening and offering the perfect “mom” advice. She adored her grandchildren, who lovingly called her “Gramoo,” and cherished every moment spent with them. Her kindness, warmth, and love will live on through her family and all those fortunate enough to know her.
Myrna is survived by her sons, Chris Champagne and Matt Champagne; her daughter, Celena Champagne Green; and her beloved grandchildren, Quincy Green and Cate Green. She also leaves behind her sisters, Karen Wells and Claudia Janssens; her brother, Mike Janssens, and his wife, Kay - with whom she shared cherished daily coffee visits; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her parents, and her grandson, Zachary Christopher Green.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff at Forever Young Home for their compassionate care and kindness during Myrna’s final days.
