Our loving father Myron Allen Curtiss, 79, of Bellaire MI, passed away on November 28, 2024. He was born on March 15, 1945, in Detroit, the son of Myron Alvardo Curtiss and Elva Leone Ledward.
Myron was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, camping and all wildlife. When it came to fixing or building things, he was a jack of all trades; he could fix anything on a car, boat, or house. He was an entrepreneur who grew a successful business called Curtiss Roofing, and his company roofed just about every commercial building in Oakland County, before becoming a Licensed Builder and owner of Bloomfield Builders. In his free time, he had many hobbies and was an avid reader of all topics. He enjoyed sail boating, photography, playing his guitar, restoring antique guns and collecting military memorabilia. Myron was known for his independent spirit—he was an independent thinker who never wanted to fit into any box. He did his own research, formed his own beliefs, and stood by them with conviction. Myron was a Christian by faith, loved his dogs, and even trained horses for a period of time.
Surviving him in death are four children, including his son Nicholas Curtiss of South Lyon MI (Siiri his wife), his daughter Mary Emma Curtiss of Royal Oak MI (formerly Narayan), his daughter Nicole Burgess of Clarkston MI (Michael her husband), and his daughter Jennifer Curtiss of Chatsworth, CA. Myron had one brother Michael Curtiss of Lathrup Village (Rebecca his wife), and one sister Marian Ballenger of Pinckney MI. Myron also had five grandchildren including Matthew Curtiss, Nicholas McKerrell, Lindsey Glover, Jordan Burgess, Keira Gallo. Preceding Myron in death are his parents, his brother, Richard Curtiss, and his sister, Joanne McCarthy.
There will be a visitation held Wednesday, December 11 from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. followed by service at the Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Home in Bellaire MI.
