Myron A. Thews Sr.

Myron Arthur Thews, Sr. age 85, of Eau Claire, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025, Luther Hospital in Eau Claire. He was born on January 12, 1940, the son of the late Elmer and Elvira(Henschel) Thews.
Following high school, Myron enlisted in the US Navy where he served until 1979. While stationed in Rhode Island, Myron met his future wife, Carolyn in Newport. They were married on June 8, 1963. Together they raised three children and lived all over the world while Myron served his country. Following his retirement from service, Myron gave his time to help out veterans and support the American Legion. He enjoyed making thousands of poppies to show support of the veterans every year. Myron was an avid cribbage player and participated in many cribbage tournaments. He also had some pretty good luck in other sports as well, bowling a perfect game and getting a hole in one were some of the memorable moments in his life. 's sarcastic sense of humor kept everyone on their toes. He always had a joke to tell. Myron's greatest pride was his family. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and supporting them in all of their activities. Having a grandson with special needs drove Myron to be actively involved in Special Olympics. His family meant everything to him.
Myron is survived by three children his son, Myron (Katie) Thews Jr.; two daughters, Susan Elaine Quick, Mary Ann Casey;five grandsons, Gregory Quick, Jesse Quick, Jack Casey, Ryan Thews and Connor Thews; his brother, James (Francine) Thews; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn, an infant daughter, Diane, and two brothers-in-law Herbert and Norman Baker
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Lewin Funeral Home, 210 W. Main St., Fremont. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Inurnment will follow in East Bloomfield Cemetery.
