Myrtle P. Walker, 88, of Lynn Center, IL, passed away, December 8, 2024, at her residence.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday December 13, 2024, at Esterdahl Funeral Home, 1301 4th Street, Orion. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday December 12, 2024, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rosedale Cemetery in Cambridge. Memorials may be made to Cambridge Church of God or the family.
Myrtle was born on May 5, 1936, in Monroe City, Illinois, the daughter of Edward F. and Lula (Johnson) Middleton. She married Alvin K. Walker, Sr. on August 10, 1957, in Corinth Mississippi. He preceded her in death on November 1, 2009.
Myrtle had previously been employed at Orion High School. She was a member of Cambridge Church of God, where she served as secretary and treasurer for fifty years and also taught Sunday school. She was a Precious Moments collector. Myrtle enjoyed caring for her flower garden and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Jacqueline (James) Mettlin, Alvin “Sonny” Walker, Jr., Joseph Walker, Darryl (Yong) Walker; grandchildren, Ryan, Olivia, John (Heidi), Shauntia, Teddra, and Ariel; great grandchildren, Landen, Noah, Elaina, Bentlee, Taelyn, Leilani, Kaleah, Nolan, Lydia, Andrew, Jericho, and Josiah; sister, Maci Mehrtens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin, daughter-in-law, Wendy, four sisters, two brothers.
