N. Charles Henss Jr., 66, of Chicago's Edgewater neighborhood, passed away at Swedish Covenant Hospital, January 1, 2023.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Norman Sr. and Patricia Burke Henss.
Charles was an honors graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and throughout his career he worked in advertising copy write; some of his accounts included Aldi, Weber Grill, and Target. Charles' career ended prematurely due to illness; nevertheless, he continued to mentor to young adults entering the advertising field. He was also active in several causes of interest to him, including working on several Malibu Condominium Association's Commissions.
Charlie was a car enthusiast, a world traveler, a connoisseur of Mid-Century Modern decor, an ardent fan of 50's, 60's, and 70's music (in particular the Beatles and Herman's Hermits), and a long-term survivor (HIV) and fighter until the end!
Beloved husband and friend of Matthew Perry, MD.
Shared his home and love with cats, Samantha for 17 years and Cloi for 8 years.
Cherished brother of Stephen Henss (Germaine), Richard Henss (Eva), Patricia Eynard (Jean-Noel), and Suzanne Henss. He was the proud uncle of Sean and Shane Eynard.
Mass of Christian burial Saturday, January 7, 2023, at 10:30a.m. with viewing from 9:00a.m. – 10:15a.m. at St. Dorothy Catholic Church, 4910 Township Line Road, Drexel Hill, PA. Interment Calvary Cemetery, W. Conshohocken, PA.
A Chicago memorial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to: The AIDS Foundation of Chicago or The American Heart Association.
