Nada Kerr Obituary

Published by Legacy on Sep. 12, 2025.
Nada Hull Fincher Kerr was welcomed into Heaven by her Lord and Savior on September 8, 2025.

Born in Atlanta on February 14, 1948, Nada grew up in Conyers, GA. She graduated from Rockdale County High School in 1966. Following that, she attended Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College (ABAC). Throughout her life, people were drawn to her natural warmth and interests, including her ABAC peers who voted her president of the student government and their homecoming queen. While there, she met her college sweetheart, Michael Lee Kerr. Married in 1968, Mike and Nada transferred to the University of Georgia where she graduated in 1970 with her Bachelor of Science in Parks and Recreation.

After spending two more years in Athens supporting her husband as he earned his MBA, the new graduates returned to Conyers. Nada then taught in the Rockdale County School System for five years before becoming a homemaker. She eventually served on the Rockdale County Board of Education from 1981 through 1983.

A job opportunity later saw the family move to Highland Village, Texas, where the busy mother of three became a volunteer firefighter and a substitute teacher. She easily made lifelong friends during her many years in the Lone Star State, and enjoyed keeping in touch with them after returning to Georgia.

Like many in her family, Nada was a member of Rockdale Baptist Church.

Nada adored traveling the world especially with her sisters and extended family. The next adventure was always on the horizon. She especially loved to take cruises. Nada also kept busy with creative pursuits including jewelry making, sewing and smocking clothes when her grandchildren were little, keepsake pieces that are cherished. Equally wonderful in the kitchen, her popular pound cake was always the second stop upon her children and grandchildren's visits, preceded first by a big, warm, welcoming hug from her. And, it was her passionate cheering for her beloved UGA Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves that drew everyone into gameday fun and competitive chatter.

Nada is survived by her husband of 56 years, Mike, sons Patrick (Amy) and Chad (Karen) and daughter Beth Knape (Jay), along with grandchildren Michael, Tatum, Mallory (Cole), Marley, Crash, Regan, Rees and Poppy, in addition to her siblings Gail Denny, Joe Fincher (Mary) and Jennie Redding, her cousin who was one of "the sisters" Cathy Denny, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was met in Heaven by her mother Margaret Chaffin.

The celebration of life honoring Nada will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Rockdale Baptist Church located at 1295 Smyrna Road, Conyers, GA 30094. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. followed by the service at 11 a.m.
