Mrs. Nadene Smith, age 77 of Gray, Kentucky departed this life on Thursday, May 15, 2025, in the Barbourville ARH Hospital. She was the daughter of Andrew and Dorothy Smallwood and the widow of Nevel Smith. Nadene was a member of the Church of Salvation House of Prayer. She loved cooking and canning and being around all her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband Nevel Smith, her parents, Andrew and Dorothy Smallwood, three siblings, Franklin Smallwood, Loretta Smallwood and Dillard Smallwood and three grandchildren, Jordan Jackson, Shane Smith and Kandace Smith.
Left behind to mourn her passing, her nine children, J.C. Grubb and wife Carolyn of East Bernstadt, Doyle Grubb and wife Mallie of Walker, Norma Jean House and husband Scott of London, Tony Smith and wife Edith of Corbin, Tammy Jackson and husband Dewayne of Cannon, Tina Jackson and Joshua Smith of Keavy, Nevel Grubb of Gray, Angela Elam and Will Gray of Swan Pond, and David Smith and wife Amber of Artemus, six siblings, Rev. A.B. Smallwood of Flat Lick, Irene Smith of Barbourville, Imogene Gray of Barbourville, Triva Gene Mills and husband Earnest of Flat Lick, Olamae Sizemore and husband Ronnie of Virginia and Sudie Messer and husband Johnny of Flat Lick. She also leaves behind her good friend Thomas Mitchell and many, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Nadene Smith will be conducted in the Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Gilbert Collins and Rev. Steve Brown officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Jackson Cemetery at Cannon. Pallbearers will be, Hunter Hinkle, Christian Jackson, Haven Jackson, Evan Vaughn, Zachary Jordan, Scott House and Cody Smith. Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
