Doepke, Nancee L. (nee Carlson)
Our dear mother, age 98, of Edina, MN, passed away September 5, 2024. Preceded in death by parents, O.B. Carlson and Anna Fredrica Carlson, husband, Harris E. Doepke, and her five sisters. She was an amazing wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend to all who knew her.
A homemaker, with her youngest still in high school, Nancee was widowed suddenly in 1981. A smart and strong woman with many interests, she was involved in her community, and was very close to her kids, grandkids, her five older sisters, and friends. Nancee was a voracious reader, and kept active with swimming, tennis and golf. Her volunteerism was varied and great: church switchboard operator and bible study leader, BSF participant, tutor at Burroughs Elementary, worker at CES (a local food shelf), waitress at St. Martin's Table (with tips going to food providers and social justice groups), worker at WAMSO in support of the MN Orchestra, Edina JV tennis coach, and Guardian ad Litem advocating for the best interests of children within the juvenile and family court systems. She was a wonderful life-long example of how to give back to our community. She was wise, loving, witty and fun. She will be sorely missed.
Survived by sons Mark (Connie), Jim (Jeanne), John, and daughter Ann (Tom) Buratti; grandchildren, Daniel (Sarah) Doepke, Paul Doepke, Matthew (Brooke) Doepke, Rebecca Doepke, Alissa (Kyle) Buratti Keller, Sarah Buratti; great grandchildren, Wesley Doepke, Miles Doepke, and Maia Keller; along with many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service Monday, Sept 30th, 12pm, at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, 5025 Knox Ave, Mpls. Visitation one hour prior to service with luncheon to follow. Private interment at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Special thanks to Mount Olivet Careview Home staff, and Grace Hospice staff for providing such great comfort and care to Nancee in her last months. Memorials preferred to Mount Olivet Careview or Grace Hospice or donor's choice.
