Nanci Boone DeHart Spivak passed away suddenly in her sleep on August 1st, 2025, at 73 years young. She was born on February 12th, 1952, in Louisville, Kentucky, the youngest of six children born to Helen and Nelson Boone.

To know Nanci was to appreciate her boldness, strong opinions and unwavering sense of self. She was witty, clever, sharp, and deeply loved by all who knew her. She lived out loud every single day, unapologetic and as real as one could be. She had a biting tongue and a sarcastic sense of humor. Nanci had a huge network of close friends, a large loving family and many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much. She led an exciting and fruitful life, always on her own terms.

Nanci devoted her life to her family, friends and her long, accomplished career in nursing. She found her true calling as a trauma room specialist in the ER at the University of Louisville; later continuing her impactful work at area hospitals, and finally working as a RN at Forrest Hills Assisted Care Facility.

Nanci is survived by her eldest brother, Nelson B. Boone Jr.; and her four children, Ashley DeHart Neal, Nicholas Hunter Spivak (Megan), Katherin Kylie Spivak (Ivan) and Amanda Hailey Spivak. She was affectionately known as "Noani" to her five precious grandchildren, Kennedy Elizabeth Neal, Carson Mosley Neal, Hayden Katherine Neal, Huxley Jamison Spivak and Josephine Cecile Spivak.

Nanci's light burned incredibly bright and went out far too soon. She will be profoundly missed but forever remembered for the fierce, funny, and fearless woman she was.

We loved her so much.

Her memorial visitation will be held on Friday, August 8th, from 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm, followed by a 6:00 pm service, at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, in Louisville.
