Nancie Theurer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lakeside Funeral Home - Woodstock on Feb. 3, 2026.
Nancie Shanna Theurer, a 21-year resident of Woodstock, Georgia, slipped into eternity, dying peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of January 26, 2026. Born November 15, 1940, to parents Neil and Una Boardman in St. Paul, Minnesota, and raised in Moose Lake, Minnesota, she later lived in Bloomington, Indiana, and several other states before eventually settling in Georgia. Nancie graduated from University High School in Bloomington, Indiana, in 1958 and from Indiana University in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business.

She served briefly in the U.S. Army Women's Army Corps (WAC) from 1963 to 1964, where she met her future husband, Hans D. Theurer Jr. They were married on June 6, 1964, and shared 37 years of marriage until his death in 2001.

During their marriage, the family lived in New York, Florida, Indiana, Illinois, and Arizona, eventually settling in California, where they remained for 27 years. Following her husband's death in 2001, she moved to Woodstock in 2005 to be closer to her sons.

While primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Theurer also worked for many years as a bookkeeper, accountant, and tax preparer. An avid reader with a special love for English history and culture, she greatly enjoyed Agatha Christie novels, writing short stories and mystery fiction, crocheting, knitting, doing embroidery, sewing, working crossword puzzles, and gardening. Quiet, compassionate, strong-willed, and resourceful, she was known for her gentle spirit, love of animals-especially cats-and dedication to her family. She was a member of the Episcopal Church and frequently supported animal-related charities.

She is survived by her sons, John Theurer and David (Marina Sheynin) Theurer; her brother, John (Marilyn) Boardman; her grandchildren, Dean, Joshua, Justin, Alex, Daria, and Veronica; and her great-grandchildren, Caspian and August. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hans D. Theurer Jr.; her infant son, Michael; and her parents, Neil and Una Boardman.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Interment will take place in Moose Lake, Minnesota, at a later date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Dementia Society of America and/or Race Against Dementia in her memory.
